Advanced Manufacturing

Momentum's award-winning technology uses laser machining and real-time feedback control to reduce production costs and increase throughput to meet the demand for high-quality glass optics.

The technology also supports optical integration with electronics and micro-mechanical systems at the wafer level, meeting designers' needs for smaller, lighter, more attractive, and higher-performing next-generation products.

RAPID DELIVERY

Custom optics have long lead times (8 weeks is not uncommon). This comes at a time when design cycles that were once 1-2 years are now being compressed to 3-4 months. Unfortunately, long lead times force optical engineers to use more conservative designs or delay market delivery.  Now there is a better, faster path forward.

CUSTOMIZATION
Custom optics are expensive which places their use out of the financial reach of some companies and slows research progress for others. In particular, cost is prohibitive for those creating “one-offs”. Our technology largely overcomes the cost vs. quantity dilemma - we like to think of it as one-offs without the trade-offs.

GLASS

Glass offers numerous advantages compared to plastic materials:

- Choice of materials (broader refractive index/dispersion range)

- Environmental resilience (more durable and scratch-resistant)

- Temperature tolerance (reduced dn/dt and minimal thermal expansion)

SYSTEMS INTEGRATION

Glass is hard durable material making it an ideal substrate for opto-electro-mechanical systems. Integrated systems are design-enabling for many devices such as AR glasses, smartphones, micro UAVs, miniature endoscopes, etc.
